It seems that it installed all versions of directx from 2006 onwards. Downloading this and placing it in the same folder as the exe doesn’t exactly work… 0x0000007b is an interesting error message.Īfter more googling, we found this file belongs to some version of directx (but NOT to dx11 which the game is supposed to use, as dx11 was already installed) We downloaded this file and placed it in the same folder as the exe, and it kept complaining about more files.Īfter some more googling we found out that we had to install the 2013 c++ redistributable thing. We tried running the built game on a new computer with windows 8.1 pro, but that didn’t work out of the box.įirst, it was complaining about missing a msvcp120.dll. Might be worth looking into.Which dependencies do the games we build with UE4 require by default? Others with the 1603 error might actually have this issue (since that’s what the Launcher showed after installation failed). I want to thank Doug for helping me to get this issue resolved. Hopefully this might help others and you experts at Epic to find a better way to solve this. Removing the wrong thing in the Registry is bad. Just be sure to check that the full string matches before you remove it.

So I went through my Registry like this and removed all traces of that. It is possible that doing this might just freeze your Registry (it did for me at times) so just searching for the first part (F6B2F31E in my case) might be preferable.

If you look at the window “UE4 Prerequisites (圆4)” (in my previous posts) and the path C:\Program Data\Package Cache\ (Your folder name might differ so just use yours). I FINALLY found the solution and 4.10.2 is now installed.
